VibroAcoustic Therapy (VAT) is a treatment procedure where sinusoidal low frequency sound vibration (30 - 120 Hz) is transferred directly to the human body using transducers. Sometimes the low frequeny sound is combined with relaxing music.

The development of VAT therapy has taken place over the last twentyfive years and has involved a variety of professionals, including music therapists, musicans, psychologists, biologists, physicians, rehabilitation therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists... The theoretical basis for the treatment has come from a variety of sources including music therapy, music in medicine, vibration research, and research in the field of low frequency sound.  This systematic form of intervention requires a therapeutic relationship between therapist and client.

VA therapy is connected to both music therapy and the field of music in medicine. A knowledge and understanding of the nature of sound and music is very important in the application of VA therapy.

Today there are comprehensive training programmes in application of low frequency sound for theoretical issues and clinical applications of this method. The aims of the training is to give neccessary skills to students for systematic use of vibroaouctic devices and to deepen theoretical knowledge.

The training in application of low frequency sound is offered in following countries for certain types of vibroauctic equipment:
